Venue: Center Theatre Group's Digital Stage
What began as a short movement piece about the Filipino-American Veterans of World War II was then commissioned by Community Partnership's Director Jesus Reyes for a short play as part of the Library Reading Series. Upon lockdown, Fran gathered her research to create a short form video for their Digital Stage. From historical markers to her mother’s personal accounts to finding untold family stories, Valor shines a light on an integral yet seldom talked about chapter of our country’s history.
Valor was screened as a live watch party garnering audiences across the globe, and followed by a Q & A with de Leon and FilAM ARTS Director of Programming Giselle “G” Töngi-Walters, moderated by Education and Community Partnerships Administrative Assistant Aurora Ilog.
